Responsible department: Inventory Management (Erica, Sonni)
The Want/Backorder List is how staff ask the Inventory department for what they need, and how Inventory staff answers back. Instead of sticky notes, hallway conversations, and texts that get lost, every request lives in one place anyone can open and read at any time — so you can see whether something was ordered, when it's expected, and what to use in the meantime.
If you need something, it goes on the list. If you're wondering where something is, the answer is on the list.
Each hospital has its own spreadsheet, and all three are built the same way — four tabs, each doing a different job. Putting a request on the wrong tab, or in another hospital's spreadsheet, is the most common reason something doesn't get ordered, so it's worth knowing which is which.
Craig Road, Lone Mountain, and Aliante each have their own Want/Backorder List spreadsheet, at its own link. They are not connected to each other and nothing is shared between them — an item added to Craig Road's list is ordered for Craig Road only.
Always use the spreadsheet for the hospital where the item is actually needed, not whichever one you happen to have open. If you work at more than one location, check the title at the top of the sheet before you start typing — it names the hospital. A request typed into the wrong hospital's list will be ordered for that hospital, and the one that actually needed it still won't have it.
If you need the same item at two hospitals, add it to both lists.
Bookmark the one for your hospital. If you float between locations, bookmark all three. Requests are worked on that hospital's order day, so anything added after the list is pulled waits for the next one.
