Context

When a staff member finds that Cornerstone is printing the incorrect expiration date, they leave the original incorrect label in a metal bin on the pharmacy counter. Once a week, before placing a pharmacy order, this bin needs to be processed and emptied.

Instructions

Organize Labels

Go through all labels and combine labels for the same medication.

Investigate

Take a label, see what the medication is, and pull it up on the Inventory Quantity on Hand page in Cornerstone.

Search for the specific medication, so that only those entries show on the QOH page.

Correct

Compare printed expiration date with listed ones on Cornerstone. Then verify the physical inventory. Correct any inaccurate information including incorrect expiration dates, incorrectly ordered bottles on shelves and overstock, and incorrect counts of expiration dates.

Pharmacy Organization: Sometimes there are multiple bottles/boxes with different expiration dates in different locations throughout the Pharmacy, such as on the shelf, above pharmacy shelves, above the fridge, and above the Doctor’s shelves. Try to organize the medication into one location with product organized by date or labeled clearly in bins and boxes with quantities and expiration dates so everyone knows which to move to the Pharmacy shelves first.
